Ectoplasmic Clouds – Meditative Imagery
Verdant Lumina
“Verdant Lumina” is part of an ongoing meditative art series exploring ectoplasmic cloud formations that emerge during deep contemplative states. Created by Maria Stella Tupynambá, this piece translates inner energetic impressions into a visual form, blending translucency, iridescent green light, and abstract movement to express non-physical presence and intuitive states of awareness.
Artist’s Process — The Inner Experiment Behind Verdant Lumina
Verdant Lumina was born during a deeply personal meditative experiment inspired by Franz Bardon’s Initiation into Hermetics, specifically his practices on sensory withdrawal and astral perception.
During that period, I was exploring what Bardon describes as the astral “third eye” opening—not as a metaphor, but as an inner shift of perception. In meditation, I began observing subtle movements of energy behind my closed eyes: swirling emerald tones, translucent forms, and currents that felt alive, fluid, and conscious.
As I stayed present with the sensation, the imagery became increasingly vivid: ectoplasmic clouds forming and dissolving, expanding with breath, contracting with intention. It felt like watching the emotional and energetic body expressing itself visually—light moving like thought, texture moving like intuition.
This artwork is my attempt to translate that state into form.
Verdant Lumina is not just an imagined scene; it is a visual imprint of an internal moment, a glimpse into the subtle realms Bardon speaks of—where consciousness, energy, and imagination begin to blend.
Through color, translucency, and fluid motion, the piece expresses what words often fail to capture:
that strange, gentle threshold where the inner eye opens,
and the invisible becomes momentarily visible.
